Faces are shaped with needle and thread over nylon; bodies are padded with cotton for natural form. About the artist
Ly Phillipson was born in southern Russia, lived in Europe, and moved to the United States in the 1990s. Trained and talented in painting and drawing, she developed a distinctive soft-sculpture technique for life-size figures.
